How To Create The Perfect Baby Boy Nursery
Planning and decorating the baby nursery are a couple of the most fun parts of pregnancy, in my opinion. I think I started to get excited about decorating the nursery when I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my son. But let me tell you, I started pinning baby boy nursery ideas to my Pinterest board about two seconds after I found out that I was having a boy at 14 weeks.
I mean, putting a little space together that's all about this little life that you are creating? Oh my word, it's the best! With every screw you place and every sheet you fold you get to imagine what it will be like when that little baby comes home.

There are so many cute ideas out there. For a little while, I found it hard to choose a theme. But once I got the idea of what my nursery style was, I was able to keep it simple, functional, and freakin' adorable for my sweet little boy on the way.
Now, of course, my son is a toddler. But Guess what? I kept his nursery exactly the same for 18 months. I guess I've been in denial that he's not a baby anymore, huh? But to be honest, it's still absolutely perfect for him. That's what is so great about keeping it simple. I never had to really worry about what I'm going to change as he grows. All we really need to do is remove the mobile, and take away the changing pad on top of the dresser.
I guess eventually I will have to take away the rocking chair, but I think I'm gong to have to stay in denial about that for a while longer. Rocking my sweet baby before bed is one of my favorite parts of the day. I can't even imagine what it would be like without that part of our routine anymore.

My Baby Nursery
Well, I took pictures of everything and saved all my information so that I could pass it on to you mammas. Here' goes!
The Theme
Truly, there isn't one. I wanted my son's nursery to be simple and sweet with hints of adventure. He has arrow accents over his bed, an arrow curtain rod, an arrow coat hanger on the wall, and arrows on some of his crib sheets and changing pad sheets.
Elephants were also a go-to when I was planning his nursery. So arrows + elephants I guess = adventure theme? I'll just go with it.
For me though, I can't stand having too much of one thing. If he has elephant stuffed animals, an elephant on the wall, and an elephant white noise machine, I really felt like I needed to cool it with the elephants.
I got him the rocking horse because it is classic. There are a bunch of options if you want different animals, but this one was my favorite. There was a fleeting moment when I almost bought the elephant one. Now, I'm glad that I didn't. Diversity is good!
The mobile has other animals in there too. I wouldn't necessarily say that I like jungle or safari theme, but the safari mobile just fit with the decor, I think.

Make It Personal
Is it just me, or is the name on the wall somewhere in the nursery a requirement lately? Maybe it's a trend, but I don't care if it goes out of style, I love it. It just pulls the room together and makes it his. You know? The second these got put up on the wall, I felt like I was ready for the baby to be in the crib below.

Convenience
I'm totally proud of how I did my changing station. I don't see the point in having a separate changing table. So I just added the changing pad on top of the dresser. The dresser will last for many years and it's definitely not baby-specific. It just works out perfectly without adding extra clutter.
This area has everything that I needed when I was changing my baby at every age so far. On top of the dresser I have the changing pad (obviously), the wipe warmer, and a basket for baby things. The other part of this set-up that is seriously the only way to do it, is have the laundry basket on one side of the dresser and the diaper pail on the other. That way I could just drop the dirty diaper or used clothes right in without even taking a step. Lazy? Maybe. Convenient? Absolutely.
I really did love my wipe warmer during the newborn stage. I felt like it helped keep my baby more relaxed during diaper changes. Of course, we stopped using it after a few months. We just unplugged it and use it as a convenient and cute place to keep our wipes, cold and all.
The “baby things” basket usually just had lovies or small rattles or stuffed animals to keep his hands busy during diaper changes. Now it also holds our over-night diapers. It makes my life so much easier, I'm telling you.

The Perfect Comfy Spot
I was stres-s-s-sed about which rocker/glider to choose when I was putting together my perfect baby nursery. The more I searched, the more I wanted all of the ones that cost like $1500. I know you know what I'm talking about.
Obviously it's a chair. I was not going to spend that much on a chair. BUT it is actually a super important spot for our family. From the day we brought our little baby home and breastfed all day and night, all the way to now, 18 months later, we rock that sweet boy in this chair every single day at bedtime.
It's comfy, it's simple, it's the right size, and it's totally affordable. Thank you, Lord!

A Little Bit Of Blood And Sweat
I'm not kidding about the sweat. These amazing closet barn doors were hand made by my husband and a good friend. He had no idea what he was doing when he started and the color wasn't what we originally chose but after three hot days in the California summer sun, they were perfect. I love them and I love that my hubby got to add a little heart to the room before the baby came.

Some Cool Finds
I totally consider this black arrow curtain rod a cool find. I think it's the cutest thing in the entire world.
It's totally necessary to put extra character in your perfect baby nursery in subtle little places like this. Simple curtain rods are cool, but just not cool enough.

Yes! The wall color is sleepy blue by Sherman Williams. In person it looks grey/blue. It’s exaxtly what we were going for. 🙂
Thank you!
What size are the chevron arrows?
Hey! Are you asking about the arrows on the wall that have LOGAN across them? Each arrow measures 18″ from tip to tail & 16.5″ across. Hope this helps!
Hi,
Great post! … Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this. It will be my first time giving one of my friends a gift for her baby, so this helps a lot.

He sure does have a beautiful nursery. I would love that for my boy.
Hi! Do you have a link from the shop on Etsy you purchased your arrows over the crib?
Hey Elizabeth! No, unfortunately I do not remember the shop I bough it from and at the time, I didn’t think to save that info! But I just went on Etsy and searched “wooden arrows wall decor” and a bunch of very similar options came up. I hope you find something perfect for you!
Hi! How did you put the letters on the arrow above the crib?
I just hot glued letters that I bought from Michaels onto arrows that I bought from Etsy! It was super easy. Then I used command strips to put the arrows up onto the wall.
